WA's Mitchell Kennedy has capped off arguably one of his most successful years in lacrosse so far, winning the O.C.Isaachsen Trophy for 2017 Best Male Player in Australia.

The Isaachsen Trophy is awarded to the fairest and best player Australia-wide in the most senior men’s State competition home and away qualifying round matches, based on votes awarded by match referees.

At Lacrosse WA’s recent Association Awards night, Mitchell won the Cann-Griffin trophy for highest point scorer, State League Fairest and Best and made the LWA All Star Team.  Mitchell was also an integral player in East Fremantle’s State League Premiership win.

Mitchell is not the first Kennedy who has won this prestigious award.  His brother Daniel won in 2014 and his father Jeff won in 1987.  Mitchell's sister Jessica, won the female equivalent, the Shelley Maher Trophy, in 2013.

WA has consistently done well in winning the Isaachsen Trophy with 6 winners in the past 8 years.  Brad Goddard (2010), Matt Diver (2011), Thomas Graham (2013, 2016) and Daniel Kennedy (2014).

Mitchell is currently vying for a spot in the 2018 Australian Men’s Lacrosse Team and we have no doubt he will continue to train hard to ensure he has a place in the team for the 2018 FIL Men’s Lacrosse World Championship in Natanya, Israel.

Great work Mitchell!
